A New Kuwaiti Talent: Azizrants

Today my friend broadcasted a video on bbm of a guy called Aziz. He taped a video of himself just talking about the conehead 7ijab... absolutely hiiiiilaaaaarious!!!!! I laughed soooo hard… damn that dude is funny!

I so wanted to post it in my blog but unfortunately couldn’t find him. Luckily, while checking out p0ach.com, I came across the same cone-head 7ijab videoooo!! And p0ach was kind enough to post Aziz’s youtube address to his readers!

He’s a cuuute 17 year old Kuwaiti version of Qaadir, but much funnier and less garga! He has a weird sense of humor that I surprisingly adored!

Check him out guys, I’m sure you’ll love him;)

Enjoy!

Find Your Match!

The Curveless

So what if you weren’t graced with JLo’s behind, Scarlett Johansson’s boobs, or Beyonce’s hips? If you’ve got an athletic body type, meaning your shoulders, waist, and hips are all the same width, you’ve got lots of choices and many swimsuits can give you the curves you crave. Simple embellishments, like beads, sarongs, ruffles, and belts, which accent your waist, will turn your curveless figure into a shapely one. You’ll be strutting down the boardwalk (summertime’s makeshift runway) in no time.

Here are our swimwear picks for beach babes with an athletic body type:

1. Metallic cut-out one-piece, $49.50 at Victoria's Secret:

2. Twist-front bandeau bikini, $24 at Newport News

3. Xhilaration® Juniors Solid Monokini Swimsuit, $29.99 at Target

Pear Shaped

If you’re heavier on the bottom, in other words your butt is wider than your shoulders, aim to accentuate your torso and your neckline to draw the eye upwards. Choose a top that’s a lighter color than the bottom, or has some noticeable, standout feature. Halter tops and scoop bottoms are a great option.

If you’ve got a sizable booty or thick thighs, don’t be afraid to show them off! They’re not anything to be ashamed of and in fact, higher-cut bottoms will actually make you look better, not worse. Only resort to skirts and shorts if you’re just not feeling like revealing much.

Check out these budget & figure-friendly swimsuits:

1. Beaded halter one-piece, $29 at Newport News

2. ELLE™ Swim Separates, $40 at Kohl’s

3. Shape fx® All-over Control Crisscross Plunge Swimdress, $54 at Newport News

4. Polka Dot Ruffles Bikini, Top $10.80, bottom $9.80 at Forever 21

5. ASOS Premium Aztec One Shoulder Suit, $54.11 at ASOS

Top Heavy

Maybe you’re a little busty – in a Barbie kind of way – or maybe you’ve just got really wide shoulders and small hips. You’re what they call an “inverted triangle.” Since everyone will naturally look up (at your chest, perhaps), remind them that you’ve got a sexy waistline, too! To do so, go with a high-cut leg, boy shorts, and/or a bottom that has a more vibrant color or busier pattern than the top. All the while, make sure you’re well supported with a swimtop with cups, a halter top or heavy-duty underwire.

These suits are great for top heavy women:

1. Push-up halter top with low-rise bottom, $24 and $14.50 at Victoria’s Secret

2. Womens Halter Swimsuits, $29.50 at Old Navy

3. Shape fx® Bust-enhancing retro-inspired 2-piece swimsuit, $39 at Newport News

Plus Size

There are TONS of awesome plus-size swimwear available these days, and they are affordable AND stylish (no more hideous floral printed muumuus). A few tips – most plus-size sistas think they look “slimmer” by covering themselves up. Not true; high-cut bottoms really are much more flattering. As far as colors and patterns go, look for the “crossover” style (you’ll know it when you see it) and avoid horizontal stripes along the waistline. Also, the more skin you show, the thinner you look, so don’t be afraid to show what your mama gave you (within reason). If you don’t have a standard black one-piece suit yet, that’s a must buy… for any body type, really. When picking out suits, think voluptuous, not matronly.

Plenty of Plus-size Choices:

1. Metallic print bandeau, $32 at Newport News

2. Faded Glory Women’s Plus Tie-Dye Bikini Top, $10 at Walmart and Faded Glory Women’s Plus Tie-Dye Scoop Bottom, $10 at Walmart

3. White Stag – Women’s Plus Shirred Swim Dress, $32 at Walmart

Pregnant

Thankfully, suits are already stretchy to begin with, so really you just need one that’s extra stretchy and can evolve with your growing belly. Don’t just get a suit that’s one size too big – get one designed for a pregnant woman. Otherwise, you’ll have too much room in some areas and/or not enough in others.

Some maternity swimsuit picks:

1. Babydoll Maternity Tankini Swimsuit, $44.98 at Motherhood Maternity

2. Maternity Halter Swimsuits, $25 at Old Navy

3. Keyhole Detail Maternity Tankini Swimsuit, $34.98 at Motherhood

Hourglass

If you’ve got an hourglass figure, first thank your mom. Second, have fun trying on swimsuits. You’re one of the few women out there who can get away with virtually any style.

Some options for curvy girl:

1. Sequin sliding triangle top, $31 and bottom $28 at Victoria’s Secret

2. Xhilaration® Juniors Monokini with Ruffles Swimsuit , $29.99 at Target

3. Ring Bandeau & Button Girl Short, $17.99 and $17.99 at Gap

Tummy Issues

If you’ve got a pouch (and most of us do), there’s no reason to hide underneath a cover-up. Just look for swimsuits with tummy control panels or ruching (gathered fabric) to cover any issues.

1. Shape fx® All-over control convertible tankini, $49 at Newport News

2. Solid Boy Short One-Piece, $39.50 at dELiA’s

3. Merona® Bandeau Shirred One Piece, $34.99 at Target

Petite

As a Petite fashionista’s, your biggest concern is how to find a small swimsuit that doesn’t make you look like an elderly member of the Mickey Mouse Club or a 36-year-old Lolita. Don’t fret. You actually have a ton of options, including checking out the juniors department, and, in a pinch, the children’s department.

Check Out These Picks for Petite Fashionistas:

1. Ruffle sliding triangle top, $18 at Victoria’s Secret

2. Reversible Triangle Top, $29.99 at Gap and Floral Bikini, $29.99 at Gap

3. Ruffled Bandeau Swim Tops, $16.50 at Old Navy and Mix & Match Ruffled Bikini Bottoms, $10 at Old Navy

Dad's Honey Advice

Parents love to give advice, they love to pass on their wisdom to their kids but we don’t always take their advice in EVERYTHING!

One of my dad’s famous advices is to take one tablespoon of honey every morning. I never did and he would always lecture me on the benefits of honey. I would listen and nod along but I knew that I wouldn’t, not because I’m a spoilt brat but because I hate eating anything in the morning, especially early mornings, I can’t I just can’t!

So a couple of days ago he came up to me and gave me a paper with 15 reasons why I should have honey which I’m guessing he googled, and although the paper doesn’t say so, he insists that I should have it in the morning! Lol

Anyways, these are the reasons:

1- Allergies – Raw honey is an excellent treatment for 90% of allergies.

2- Anemia – Honey is a great blood enricher. The darker the honey, the better. Take 1 ripe banana with 1 tablespoon of honey 1-2 times a day.

3- Appetite - Honey improves appetite in children suffering from appetite loss.

4- Conjunctivitis – Dissolve honey in equal amount of warm water. When cooled, apply as lotion or eye bath.

5- Fatigue and Exhaustion – Honey is the best ingredient to remove tiredness and fatigue almost instantly because it is easily absorbed in the blood.

6- Headaches and Migraine – Take 2 teaspoons at meals to prevent headache. For migraines, take 1 dessertspoon of honey dissolved in a half glass of warm water. Repeat in 20 minutes if migraine persists.

7- Heart Diseases – Honey can fight against cholesterol. Pure honey taken with foods daily instead of sugar relieves complains of cholesterol. This is helpful for old people, especially sufferers of diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and others.

8- High Blood Pressure – Take mixed 1 teaspoon of honey, 1 teaspoon of ginger juice and 1 teaspoon of cumin powder 2 times a day.

9- Insomnia (Sleeplessness) – Take 1 teaspoon of honey mixed in lukewarm water of milk and drink before going to bed.

10- Poor Digestion – Mix 1:1 honey with cider vinegar and dilute with water.

11- Skin – Honey is a good moisturizer. It also helps in reducing skin problems like pimples.

12- Sore Throat – Let 1 teaspoon of honey melt in the back of the mouth and trickle down the throat.

13- Stomachache – Take 1 teaspoon of honey, and the juice of ½ lemon with a hot glass of water first thing in the morning.

14- Teeth – Although honey is sweet, it helps to maintain and protect teeth.

15- Stress – Honey in water is a stabilizer – calms highs and raises lows. Use approx. 1:4 honey to water.

As much as I appreciate his efforts, I’ll try to make it a ritual but I cant promise anything;p

Chic It Up!

On my last trip to Dubai I came across two must-buy necklaces that would spice up any plain simple outfit. I was absolutely in loveee!

The first was a short turquoise multi-sized stone necklace. The colour was absolutely astonishing and refreshing! A slideshow of all the possible outfits I could wear it with crossed my mind, that’s when I knew I had to get it!

The second was also a short necklace but made out of pearl-like spikes. It’s so chic, elegant and edgy which made it extremely irresistible to me.

Turquoise necklace: From an area called “Al-Bastakiya”

Spike pearl-ish necklace: From an outdoor stall (ba96a) on “The Walk” on Jumeirah Beach Residence.

Think Chic!

So long amigos.

Who knew about "Underline"??

Well I for sure didn’t! I was shopping upstairs at the avenues, which a I rarely do coz I always shop at the ground floor, when I passed this shop called “Underline”. I went in and found out that it was an outlet that was here for the past 4 months. I was very surprised and at the same time thrilled to find an outlet that had several brands I was interested in aaaand was at the avenues, the place that everyone often goes to. Unlike Al Manshar’s Villa Moda, another outlet store, which you would have to get out of your way to go to, Underline is at a hot spot!

Anyways, the exciting part was that they had many brands including; Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin, Kenzo, Maxmara, Gerard Darel and more!

Louboutin’s section

… and that was my pick! But too bad they didn’t have my size :( they only had sizes 36 and 38, while I’m a 37 damn!

Underline is located at the Avenues Phase I, on the first floor.

Have a great outlet spree!

Clear Heaven after Acne Hell

After a 7-month course of Roaccutane, several treatments and many inquiries, my aunt suggested that I should pay a visit to Dr buhamra. And I did. He totally saved the day with some pills and other medications that totally suited my skin.. and now “TARRAAA” spotless beautiful skin after a long search il7mdela!

How you ask?

Well, I went to see this famous Dr Mohammed Buhamra and he prescribed a one-month course of Curacne pills, a mixture of two creams for night application and recommended I do a facial with his skin care specialist, and that’s exactly what I did.

After that, the skin care specialist, madam Lucy, recommended many treatments for my face which varied between different types of peels and facials. And as much as these treatments made me ecstatic to have my clearrrrr, soft and with-no-acne-whatsoever skin back,.. I knew for sure that I needed to maintain it!

I used to look in the mirror and say “oh god!” Now I look in the mirror and say “HELLO GORGEOUS SKIN, WELCOME BACK TO ME!” which feels really good! Guys, you should always believe deep down that acne is only a phase and you would definitely have your old clear spotless skin back… you just have to hold your faith long enough for it to happen.

And now all I have to do is simple facials to maintain my skin!

Dr. Buhamra Clinic is located in Maidan Hawally, Salem Mubarak St., 4th Ring Road Extension, Before Gas and Fire Station.

Adios my beautiful readers!

Aisha Al Fadhel Exhibition

As much as you support the Kuwaiti products and efforts, I know that many of you rarely attend exhibitions, unless you know for a fact that they’re reaaaally good and have great taste in what they display, and I totally agree with you. It’s a must to distinguish between people who are true designers with superior taste… and others.

So I present to you Aisha Al Fadhel, a designer who, in my own humble opinion, is one of the best out there. She is talented and her designs are so unique and mesmerizing. She adds a touch of class and fun to her pieces and if I ever think about buying a dara’a for Ramadan, it would definitely be from her.

She’s hosting an exhibition on the 25th to 26th of May from 6 – 10pm at this addresss; Khaldiya, block1, Khaldiya Main St., house 39, and I think many of you would be pleased with what she has to offer.

Check out her facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=18552861677&ref=ts

And her past designs will speak for themselves.

Layla Harmony’s New Hairdo!

I had a wedding last Thursday, and for my unfortunate luck my hairstylist was out of the country so I had to search find alternatives and after considerable research on where to do my hair and make up, I decided that Layla Harmony is the place. So I called and booked an appointment. Their place is pretty easy to find so I wasn’t lost at all and the interior is really amazing; it shows how much money and effort was invested in the place. I really felt proud that we have salons of such high standards in Kuwait.

Anyway so my hairdo!! I booked my hair appointment with Lulu because I know she’s one of the best. As soon as I sat on the chair, I started talking about the style of hairdo I want. I told her I wanted something simple yet stylish. She was extremely responsive so she suggested a new hairdo. She said there is one hairdo that she had in mind for ages and was waiting for the perfect girl and face to try it on. I was absolutely flattered!

So she showed me the idea of the hairdo. At first I was hesitant and thought to myself that that wasn’t what I had in mind but then I saw that it was simple yet had a tinge of dareness to it, so I agreed!

Personally I’m not into weird hairdos nor multiple buns on the head, I’m into something simple like pony tails or high buns, but this one I really liked.

Hope you enjoyed it! And just for the record.. I definitely recommend it ;)

Layla Harmony is located in Sha’ab Al Bahri, on the Gulf Road next to Shalaweet. Phone:1886655

Cheap and Chic from H&M

Summer is here and fashion is what we have to enjoy the summer activities by. Whether it was the beach, gathering or outing, in the summer you want to look fresh and stylish at all times.

Cruising around H&M, I found 2 pieces that were extremely stylish yet economical. I fell in love with them both and bought them in a heartbeat!

As soon as I entered I spotted a basic three-quarter cotton shirt with ruffles on the shoulders that grabbed my attention! I looked down at the price tag and it was for 3.900kd, I thought to myself this is a multi usage shirt with such a low price.. WOW! I grabbed my size and kept hunting around for more interesting items.

Later on I came across these stylish pair of blue and white stripped wedges, which are extremely comfortable by the way! And then suddenly my eye fell on the price tag, I was personally shocked! They were for… wait for it… 5.900kd! Talk about cost cutting.

Who says you have to stop shopping in these critical financial times, you just have to be smart about it and have the right taste!

H&M is the way to go!
